

Byiringiro Jean Marcelin is a passionate and dedicated Social Work student in his second year at the University of Rwanda, Huye Campus. His journey has been shaped by meaningful experiences that have strengthened his commitment to community development and social change.
After completing his secondary school education in 2022, Jean Marcelin participated in Urugerero, a six-month national volunteer program initiated by the government. During this period, he played a coordinating role at the cell level, overseeing various community activities aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable individuals. His contributions included reconstructing houses for the underprivileged, building homes for the homeless, creating kitchen gardens to promote balanced nutrition, constructing toilets for disadvantaged families, and planting fruit trees such as avocado and mango trees. These projects were essential for climate protection and food security, demonstrating his dedication to improving community welfare and raising the standard of living for its members.
Jean Marcelin has continually sought opportunities to enhance his knowledge and skills. In his pursuit of personal and professional growth, he has participated in various training programs:
Mental Health Awareness Training, He attended World Mental Health Day, where he gained insight into mental health awareness, prevention strategies, and self-care practices. This training helped him understand how to support individuals facing mental health challenges.
Digital Technology Skills (DTS) Training, in 2023, he joined the DTS program at the University of Rwanda, where he learned essential computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. He obtained a certificate, which has enhanced his technological proficiency and ability to work efficiently in digital environments.
INA Leaders Beyond Success Program – From February 11–18, 2024, he participated in leadership training, equipping him with valuable skills in effective leadership and personal development.
Business Club Training – Over a six-month period, he received training on resource utilization, time management, goal setting, business idea development, and entrepreneurship. These skills have significantly improved his ability to work collaboratively and manage business-related projects effectively.
In 2024, Jean Marcelin expanded his volunteer efforts by joining community service activities in Huye District. As an active participant, he takes part in Umuganda (monthly community service) and other public initiatives, demonstrating his commitment to social development and civic responsibility.

As a catalyst for development, he is committed to driving positive transformation in society through his knowledge, skills, and passion for social work.
