What We Do

Across all five programs, FMI "Ubumuntu" applies a community-led, inclusive, volunteer-supported, and partnership-based approach. We work with children, youth, women, persons with disabilities, vulnerable households, community volunteers, schools, local leaders, government institutions, civil society organizations, and development partners to design and implement sustainable solutions. Volunteers are a cross-cutting strength of FMI "Ubumuntu". They support community mobilization, awareness, mentoring, data collection, beneficiary follow-up, advocacy, learning activities, and community ownership, helping the organization remain close to the communities it serves. The Manual formally recognizes volunteers as part of program implementation and community engagement.

Friends of Motherland Initiative “Ubumuntu” collaborates with government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, community groups, volunteers, and international partners, including the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), Gisagara District, Huye District, Green for Life Rwanda, Helping Heart Family Rwanda, Health for Community Development (HCD), LIFT Program, and ActionAid Rwanda, to advance sustainable community development.
