“I thought my dream of going back to school was over. I used to watch other children walk to school while I stayed home. It hurt because I wanted to learn, but my family could not afford it. My future felt uncertain. My confidence began to fade.

NIYONSENGA Sarah is one of the children supported by FMI “Ubumuntu.” After completing primary school, she was unable to continue her education due to financial hardship. With no other option, she moved to Kigali to work as a domestic worker.

Through the support of FMI “Ubumuntu,” Sarah was able to return to school. She received all the essential school supplies she needed, including notebooks, pens, a school uniform, shoes, and full payment of her school fees.

In reality, 50,000 Rwandan Francs (approximately $38) per year covered by FMI “Ubumuntu” is what transformed Sarah’s life. Today, her face is filled with joy because she has resumed her studies. She now learns with confidence and hope for a brighter future.

Sarah is determined to succeed, to contribute positively to her family and to her country. She also has a strong commitment to help other children who dropped out of school like she once did, encouraging them to return and continue their education.

"I am happy to be back in school. I want to study hard, succeed, and be a Medical Doctor and help my family, my country and one day support other children like me.”

Currently, FMI “Ubumuntu” supports 82 children in Nyanza and Kigembe Sectors, Gisagara District. Our goal is to reach at least 1,000 children and continue expanding so that no child is left behind due to poverty.
