LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Welcome to the Friends of Motherland Initiative "Ubumuntu" website. It is with great pride and a deep sense of purpose that I write to you today.

I am honored to lead this vital initiative dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and their families in our rural communities. Our journey began with a clear mission: to protect the rights of these children and to ensure they have access to the education and resources they need to thrive.

Having grown up in the rural community, I understand and relate to the challenges faced by our children and families. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Rwanda, I returned to my roots with a burning desire to make a tangible difference. In 2021, I founded the Friends of Motherland Initiative "Ubumuntu" with a vision to address these challenges head-on.

Our work is grounded in the principles of Human Centered Design and Asset Based Community Development. These approaches guide our efforts as we strive to empower our community members to use their own resources and strengths to drive change. During my service as a CorpsAfrica/Rwanda Volunteer in Nyamagabe district, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact of these methods. They are not just theoretical concepts but practical tools that bring about real, sustainable transformation.

Prior to my volunteer service, my experiences as a community facilitator at Health for Community Development and as a Human Resource Manager at MMD Gira Ubukire have equipped me with a diverse skill set. These roles taught me the importance of empathy, effective communication, and strategic planning, all of which are crucial to our mission.

At Friends of Motherland Initiative "Ubumuntu," our goal is to create a legacy of hope and empowerment. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and every family should have the support they need to build a brighter future. Our work extends beyond immediate relief; we are dedicated to advocating for rights, supporting education, and fostering community resilience.

I invite you to explore our website and learn more about our programs and initiatives. Your support, whether through volunteering, donations, or spreading the word, plays a crucial role in our mission. Together, we can make a lasting impact and build a future where every child and family has the chance to flourish.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our cause.

Warm regards,

Valens BIKORIMANA
