Valens BIKORIMANA is a Rwandan social worker and community leader dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and their families. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Rwanda, where he studied in the College of Arts and Social Science.
After completing his studies in 2021, Valens returned to his rural community with a mission to make a positive impact. He founded an initiative called Friends of Motherland Initiative "Ubumuntu," which aims to protect the rights of vulnerable children and support their education by ensuring their basic needs are met.
Valens served as a CorpsAfrica/Rwanda Volunteer from 2022 to 2023 in the Nyamagabe district, specifically in the Musange sector. During his time as a volunteer, he utilized Human Centered Design and Asset Based Community Development approaches to serve as a catalyst for change in the vulnerable community. Prior to his volunteer work, in 2021, Valens gained valuable experience as a community facilitator at Health for Community Development. In this role, he actively participated in counseling and guidance activities, particularly supporting individuals living with mental health challenges.
Valens also has a background in Human Resources Management, having worked as a Human Resource Manager at MMD Gira Ubukire from 2017 to 2020. During his tenure, he contributed to various HR management activities, furthering his expertise in the field.Throughout his career, Valens has sought personal and professional development opportunities. He attended certified training programs and international conferences, including; YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa training program Alumni 2023, the Next Generation Entrepreneurship Training in 2019, Global Leadership in 2018, Social Workers International Conference in 2018, Akazi Kanoze Work Readiness Program from 2015 to 2016, and Youth Connect Summit in 2019.
Driven by his passion and commitment, Valens aspires to create a lasting legacy of hope for vulnerable and marginalized children and their families. His goal is to continue advocating for their rights, supporting their education, and empowering communities to thrive using their own available resources. With his extensive experience and dedication, Valens exemplifies a true agent of change
