Valens is a Social Work student at the University of Rwanda, specializing in Social Work from 2022 to 2025. Since arriving on campus, he has actively engaged in community service, joining organizations such as the Rwanda Red Cross and Rwanda Youth Volunteers at Huye Campus. Through these initiatives, he has participated in various volunteer-driven projects aimed at transforming society and enhancing social well-being.
One of his key contributions was collaborating with local leaders to launch an awareness campaign on fighting malnutrition. As part of this effort, he helped establish a kitchen garden at Rango Health Center to promote sustainable nutrition solutions. Additionally, he was involved in the construction of a house for a vulnerable family in Gitwa Cell, both located in Tumba Sector, Huye District. These initiatives reflect his commitment to addressing social inequalities and improving the lives of marginalized communities.
In 2023, Valens expanded his impact by joining Lifeline Organization, a group focused on enhancing mental health and wellness. As a member, he participated in awareness campaigns on mental health, targeting key issues such as isolation, suicide prevention, and other mental health challenges faced by young people. Through these interventions, he helped educate individuals on the importance of seeking help when necessary and contributed to efforts aimed at reducing mental health stigma. His involvement provided him with firsthand experience in understanding the social issues that create instability within communities.
Recognizing the urgency of addressing these challenges, Valens remains determined to continue delivering impactful services to his community. He strongly believes that empowering individuals through informed consent fosters a positive environment and leads to sustainable change. His long-term goal is to leave a lasting legacy by driving meaningful transformations in society built not through favor, but through dedicated action and commitment to social justice.
